About Us

"In Memory of Brenda Comeaux "

The Krewe of Comogo was formed in memory of Brenda Comeaux.

Brenda’s true love was Mardi Gras, which was evident by her involvement in the Krewe of Okeanos, where she served as a board member and Ball Captain in 1991 and 2000 and Co-Ball Captain in 1993. She was also the first woman Co-Ball Captain of Krewe du Roi in 1988 and again in 1995. She was a creative individual who had a flair for designing and decorating. She organized entertainment, coordinated music, decorated sets, costumes and headpieces for the Krewe balls.

Brenda always dreamed of starting a Parade Krewe in Plaquemine. Although she was unable to reach this dream she left a legacy of love, friendship and talent that will always be remembered. In her early years, she was involved in the fashion industry, coordinating and modeling in many local and statewide style shows for department stores, modeling agencies and hair salons. She enjoyed helping friends and family decorate their homes for parties and holidays and could make beautiful flower arrangements with simple greenery from the yard. Brenda enjoyed transforming vintage hats into spectacular headpieces using silk flowers, antique brooches and exotic plumage. Many, especially at Kentucky Derby time, pursued her millinery talents. She was truly an artist who could do so much with so little.

Brenda’s unique flavor for life, friends, family and good times will be remembered by all those whose life she touched. She was a member of the St. John Alumni Association and past recipient of the President’s Award; Plaquemine Garden Club; former member of Main Street Promotions Committee; Krewe of Okeanos and an honorary member of Krewe du Roi.

How the Krewe Became Comogo...

Do you know the origin of the "Comogo" name?

It is a combination of the names Comeaux and Gauthreaux. Both were the last names of Brenda's parents.

Long before the Krewe's time, Brenda loved to entertain. She was renovating her home to put in a pool and an event room, later to be known famously as the "Comogo Room". It was named this after the blood, sweat, and tears of the two families that came together to build this wonderful place for future families and friends to gather and celebrate.
